J & J Design is a personal project of mine that I created for the purpose of displaying and distribution of software that I have written in my not so spare time. It is also a learning experience for me in web programming and design.

I am a pastor of a small rural church and I work as an electronic technician for Santa Rosa County Schools in Florida. So you can see that "spare" time is very hard to come by. But I enjoy programming very much and hope to one day be able to devote more time to software development.

If you are interested in learning to program using Visual Basic, I have listed some good websites below to help get you started. In the bookstore section of this site, I have links to some good books in several different areas of programming!

Current Projects

I am currently wrapping up the redesign of this site, janjdesign.com. In the near future I will be working on a database driven project for a small company that schedules and keeps records of orders, and customer information.

I am also currently working on a project for Santa Rosa County Schools that uses Flash and html to view site plans for Fire Alarm Systems.

Future Projects

Other projects I will soon be working on are:

  • Restarting the work on the Bible Trivia game.
  • A crossword puzzle game.
  • A word search puzzle game.

Capitals

Capital 2.0 is a simple windows program that helps children learn the capitals of the states. Capitals uses sound and visual effects to indicate right and wrong answers. Capitals teaches by prompting the player with the right answer upon entry of a wrong answer. The questions and answers are randomized so the player learns the state capitals rather than the order of the questions! Capitals Version 2.0 now has two levels of difficulty to choose from!

MapViewer

MapViewer is a Macromedia Flash projector application with maps of Africa, Antarctic, Arctic, Asia, Central America, Europe, Oceania, United States, World and World Time Zones. MapViewer is easy to use and is a very good supplement for children to use with their geography studies!

Pastor's Records

Pastor's Records is a record keeping system for ministers. Pastor's Records uses an Access type database to store records, which are divided into 6 categories, one for each tab in the Records window. Pastor's Records features a "Contacts" tab with telephone dialer, other categories are; Conversions, Baptisms, Funerals, Services and Weddings. Pastor's Records was designed by a minister for ministers!

Pick and Match

Pick and Match is designed to simulate the old card matching memory game. Pick and Match starts by allowing you to choose between two sets of cards. Playing Pick and Match helps to increase visual recall. Children as well as adults will enjoy playing Pick and Match! Pick and Match counts your mouse clicks and keeps track of the length of time it takes to match all the pairs. The better your memory the fewer mouse clicks and usually a shorter time to complete a game!

Picture Puzzle 2

Picture Puzzle 2.0 is a puzzle game that slices a picture into randomly scrambled pieces. Picture Puzzle 2.0 provides an elapsed time timer, Image View to see the unscrambled image and indicates the number of pieces in the correct position! Picture Puzzle 2.0 has 3 levels of difficulty, 25, 48, and 100 pieces and will allow you to import and resize your own images, provided they are 640 x 480 or larger and the width and length are in proper proportion.
